Seller-declared grades, sterling with an approximate US dollar equivalent at £1 ≈ $1.33 (July 2026). What each grade means.
What holds its value across LG
- OLED televisions in working order, which are the panels the brand is known for and cost a great deal new
- Larger screen sizes, which are consistently harder to find used and hold value better
- Washing machines and fridges under five years old with a service history
- Soundbars with their subwoofer and remote, which are model-paired and useless apart
What pulls LG resale value down
- Screen burn-in on OLED panels, which shows as ghosting from static logos and menus and is permanent
- Panel faults on any television — banding, dead pixels, uneven backlight — which are not economically repairable
- Appliances with worn drum bearings, audible on the spin and rarely worth fixing
- Missing remotes and subwoofers, which are specific to the model and awkward to replace
Identifying and dating yours
- The model and serial are on a label on the back or inside the door — photograph it, since specifications change yearly
- Display a plain bright image and a plain dark one and photograph both, because that is how burn-in, banding and backlight faults actually show
- Say whether the remote, stand and any paired subwoofer are included
What lifts any Android phone, whatever the label
Android handsets lose value faster than iPhones, and the spread is mostly about which maker built it and how long it will keep getting security updates.
- A maker with a long software-update commitment still running
- Unlocked to all networks, with the IMEI clear on checks
- Flagship models, which hold value far better than mid-range ones
- Original charger, box and any case bought with it
And what pulls one down
- Devices past their security-update window
- Screen burn-in on OLED panels, visible on grey backgrounds
- Mid-range models, which drop sharply within two years
- Any bootloader unlock or custom ROM still installed
Working out what yours is worth
- Check Settings > About phone for the exact model and Android version
- Look for burn-in by displaying a plain grey image full screen
- Search sold listings for that exact model and storage tier
What to state in the listing
- Exact make, model and storage capacity
- Android version installed, and whether updates are still supported
- Network unlocked or carrier locked, and which carrier
- Battery condition, and whether the screen or battery has been replaced
Make, model, storage and unlock status: “Google Pixel 7 128GB Unlocked”. Buyers filter by exact model. State how much longer the phone receives security updates if you know — almost nobody does, and for Android buyers it is genuinely decisive.
Preparing and photographing it
- Note the exact make, model and storage from Settings → About phone. “Android phone” alone is not a listing.
- Check the battery health if your model reports it, and time a realistic day of use if it does not.
- Remove your Google account, then factory reset. A phone still tied to your account triggers factory reset protection and is unusable to the buyer.
- Front, screen on, showing the home screen
- Back and sides in daylight, revealing scratches and dents
- The About phone screen with model and Android version
- Any crack or deep scratch, close up
When it sells best, and handing it over
Fast movers when priced against current market rather than what you paid. Values drop steadily and there is no benefit in waiting.
Small, valuable and a common target for payment fraud. Confirm cleared funds before it leaves you, and meet in a public place for local handovers.
What buyers ask
How do I check an OLED television for burn-in?
Display a plain grey or white full-screen image and look for ghosting where a channel logo or menu bar used to sit. It is permanent, so photograph what you see.
Is a used washing machine worth it?
If it is recent and the history is known. Run a full spin and listen for rumbling — worn drum bearings are the common fault and rarely worth repairing.
How much is an LG Android phone worth?
Roughly £52 to £420 depending on condition, against £50 to £400 for Android phones generally. The identification points above are what move a listing to the top of that range.
What the fees would take elsewhere
At the mid-range £236 for an LG Android phone, against what the commission marketplaces would deduct:

| Poshmark | −£47 | £189 |
| eBay | −£32 | £204 |
| Mercari | −£24 | £212 |
| Etsy | −£15 | £221 |
| WishThrift | −£0 | £236 |
Seller-side rates verified 26 Jul 2026, percentages only — the per-order and processing charges those platforms add are excluded, so the real gap is wider.
