Condition on WishThrift is described by the seller against five grades, and nobody inspects it on your behalf — so the description and the photographs are what you are buying on.

The checklist before you pay
On garden machinery, whether it starts from cold rather than warm. On glass and ceramics, chips and hairline cracks that do not show in a photograph.
Run through these before money changes hands — they are the things that decide whether a BBQ grill is worth what is being asked:

Questions to ask the seller
These are the three that get asked most often about a BBQ grill, and the answers tell you most of what you need:
Say plainly in the listing. Cylinders are usually the supplier’s property on an exchange scheme, and a buyer expecting a full bottle who gets none has a real grievance.
Look along each tube and photograph them. Burners are a replaceable part on known brands, so a buyer will price the repair rather than walk away — if they know.
Check the trolley fixings. Most gas barbecues will not fit in a car assembled, and this decides whether they bring a van.

- Whether a cover, thermometer, tools or side burner are included
- The state of the grates, burners and hose, described honestly

Almost the whole market runs from April to July, with a short second window in late August. A clean barbecue listed in May sells within days; the same one in October may not sell at all.
Prices move against that cycle for a buyer: the cheapest time to buy is when sellers are listing most, not when demand peaks.
