How to Sell a Used Pram

A used pram typically sells for £50 to £300, and on WishThrift it costs you nothing to list — no fee, no commission, so you keep the whole amount you agree. Prams sell fast and for good money because they are expensive new and outgrown within two years — but buyers check the fold, the brakes and the wheels before anything else.

The short version

  • Typical range: £50 – £300 — see the full pram value guide
  • What decides your price: condition, and how well you evidence it in photographs
  • Cost to sell here: nothing, at any price
  • Category: Baby & Kids Items

Before you photograph it

Ten minutes here is worth more than anything else you will do. Buyers are deciding between your listing and someone else’s, and preparation is what visibly separates the two.

  • Wash the fabrics if they are removable, and wipe down the frame. Baby equipment is judged on cleanliness more harshly than anything else.
  • Fold and unfold it several times to confirm the mechanism latches properly, and test the brake on a slope.
  • Identify the exact model and check which accessories you have: raincover, footmuff, carrycot, adapters.

The photographs that sell a pram

Four photographs do almost all the work. Shoot in daylight, near a window, with the item against something plain — and do not use the flash, which flattens texture and hides exactly what buyers are trying to see.

  1. The pram fully assembled and upright, side on
  2. Folded, so buyers can judge whether it fits their boot
  3. The seat fabric and harness, clean and clearly lit
  4. The wheels, brake and every accessory included, together in one frame

Photograph the flaws too. It feels counterproductive, but a listing that shows the worst of an item gets fewer questions, fewer withdrawn offers and fewer arguments at handover. Buyers who can see the damage stop imagining something worse.

Writing the title and description

Brand and model with accessories: “Bugaboo Fox 3 Pram with Carrycot and Raincover”. Parents research one specific model and search for it by name, so the model is essential. Say whether it is a full travel system, since that is a different and higher-value search.

Then state these in the description, because a buyer who has to ask is a buyer who might not bother:

  • Exact brand and model, and roughly which years it was in use
  • Everything included: carrycot, raincover, footmuff, car seat adapters
  • Folded dimensions, since boot space is a real constraint for buyers
  • Condition of the fabrics, harness and wheels, described honestly

What buyers will actually ask

You will receive the same three messages about a pram. Answering them in the listing itself removes the back-and-forth, and answering them well when they do arrive is what turns an enquiry into a sale.

“Does it fold easily?”

Demonstrate it if they collect. A stiff or sticking fold is the most common complaint about used prams and is worth mentioning before they find it.

“Are the raincover and accessories included?”

List them individually. Accessories are expensive to buy separately and their presence adds real money to your price.

“Has it been in storage or used daily?”

Be straightforward. Buyers accept genuine use readily; what they dislike is discovering perished foam or seized wheels that storage caused.

Pricing it so it actually sells

Start from the honest condition grade rather than the price you hope for. WishThrift listings use five grades — New with Tags, Like New, Good, Fair and For Parts — and what each grade means is worth reading before you choose, because grading up is the most expensive mistake sellers make. It does not raise the price; it produces a buyer who arrives expecting something else.

The pram value guide prices all five grades for this item. Pick your grade, take the figure, and if you sit between two grades price toward the lower one. Items priced honestly sell faster than items priced hopefully, and on a free platform there is no fee eating the difference anyway.

What you keep, compared

On a £175 sale — roughly the middle of the range for a pram — here is what the commission-charging platforms would take, and what you would keep on each:

Mercari−£18£157

Seller-side rates verified 26 Jul 2026 — Poshmark: 20% commission on sales of $15 and above; eBay: 13.6% final value fee, plus a per-order fee; Mercari: flat 10% selling fee; Etsy: 6.5% transaction fee, plus a listing fee and payment processing. Percentages are applied to the sterling figure above; the fixed per-order and processing charges those platforms add are quoted in their own currency and are not included here, so the real deductions are slightly larger. Timing and getting it to the buyer

Consistently strong, with demand steady all year. Recognised brands sell within days; unbranded travel systems take much longer and sell for little.

Bulky and awkward to post, so most sell for local collection. That suits buyers, who want to fold it and push it before committing.

WishThrift does not process payments or arrange delivery — you and the buyer agree both directly — so confirm payment has cleared before the item leaves your hands, and keep the conversation on the site so there is a record of what was agreed.

Ready to list it? It takes about two minutes, costs nothing, and there is no commission when it sells — create a free account or see how selling works.

Frequently asked questions

What is a used pram worth?

Typically £50 to £300, with premium brands well above that and unbranded systems well below. See the pram value guide for the condition breakdown.

Is it safe to buy a used pram?

Prams are generally fine second hand, unlike car seats, because there is no crash history to worry about. Buyers should still check the brakes, the fold latch and the harness themselves — and sellers should point out anything worn rather than wait to be asked.

How do I get the most for a pram?

Clean the fabrics, include every accessory you can find, and name the exact model in the title. Accessories and cleanliness move a pram price more than almost anything else.
