1. Turn a shell inside out and photograph the inner face: a smooth even surface is sound, while tackiness or flaking is delamination
2. Check the taped seams along their length and photograph any lifting, because that is where buyers expect the honest detail
3. The interior label names the membrane and the model, both of which buyers search for directly

• Fill type and, for down, the fill power or down percentage
• Whether the hood and fur trim detach, and whether the fur is real or faux
• Pit-to-pit and full length
• Whether it is waterproof, showerproof or neither, and whether the coating still works

Fill, features and size: “Down Filled Parka with Detachable Faux Fur Hood, Khaki, Size L”. Fill type is the warmth signal buyers search on. Say whether the fur is real or faux — buyers care both ways and it is not something to leave ambiguous.

Preparing and photographing it

1. Read the label for the fill: down, feather or synthetic wadding, and the outer fabric.
2. Check the hood, its fur trim and whether both detach, plus every zip, popper and drawcord.
3. Test whether water still beads on the outer, and say honestly if the coating has washed off.

A short window from October to January, and prices drop sharply after. Storing until autumn is worth real money if you have missed it.

What buyers ask

Can a delaminated waterproof jacket be repaired?

No. Once the membrane separates from the face fabric the garment is finished as waterproof kit. Describe it plainly and sell it as a casual jacket instead.

My jacket wets out — is it ruined?

Probably not. Wetting out usually means the water-repellent finish has worn off, which a proofing wash restores. That is different from delamination and worth distinguishing.

How much is a Berghaus parka worth?
