Condition on WishThrift is described by the seller against five grades, and nobody inspects it on your behalf — so the description and the photographs are what you are buying on.

The checklist before you pay
Structural wear at the corners and strap attachment points, and interior odour, which does not photograph and is very hard to remove.
Run through these before money changes hands — they are the things that decide whether a luggage set is worth what is being asked:
- Seized or flat-spotted wheels
- Handles that stick or will not lock
- Cracked shells and split seams
- Broken zips, which effectively end a case’s life
And the things worth paying more for, because they hold their value:

Questions to ask the seller
These are the three that get asked most often about a luggage set, and the answers tell you most of what you need:
Go through each one and answer individually. A set described as perfect with one seized wheel is the complaint that arrives most often.
Give its exact dimensions with wheels. Buyers are usually buying the set for that one case and will check it against their airline.
Confirm and photograph it. Storage space is a real objection to buying a full set and showing them nested answers it directly.

- Hard or soft shell, and wheel configuration
- Whether they nest, and the storage footprint when nested
- Whether every case is fully functional, stated case by case
