1. A serial sticker sits inside the bag, on the lining or under the flap, and the leading digits give the production era — photograph it flat and in focus
2. The season stamp on jewellery and belts is cast into the reverse of the plaque as a year and a season letter, and buyers search by exactly that
3. Count the stitches per quilt diamond and photograph the interlocking CC turnlock straight on, because both are things buyers compare against reference photos

Blazers are judged on construction and shoulder fit, because those are the parts a buyer cannot alter cheaply.

• Fabric composition and whether it is fully or half lined
• Single or double breasted, and the number of buttons
• Whether it is part of a suit, and any wear at elbows or cuffs

2. Check the lining, the shoulder pads and whether the vents and pockets are still tacked shut.
3. Look for shine on the elbows and seat of the sleeves, which is where wool blazers wear.
