What holds its value across Lacoste

2. The crocodile should be tightly and evenly embroidered with defined teeth and eye; buyers compare it against reference photographs
3. The care label gives the country of manufacture, and Made in France places a garment in the earlier, more valuable period

• Whether the hood and fur trim detach, and whether the fur is real or faux
• Pit-to-pit and full length
• Whether it is waterproof, showerproof or neither, and whether the coating still works

Preparing and photographing it

1. Read the label for the fill: down, feather or synthetic wadding, and the outer fabric.
2. Check the hood, its fur trim and whether both detach, plus every zip, popper and drawcord.
3. Test whether water still beads on the outer, and say honestly if the coating has washed off.
