Seller-declared grades, sterling with an approximate US dollar equivalent at £1 ≈ $1.33 (July 2026). What each grade means.
What holds its value across Samsung
- Recent Galaxy S and Z Fold or Flip handsets with the account lock removed and battery health still good, which is what every buyer asks about first
- QLED and Neo QLED televisions in the larger sizes, which are expensive new and where the secondhand saving is large enough to motivate a buyer
- The Frame televisions, which are bought as much for the appearance as the picture and hold better than conventional sets
- Bespoke and larger white goods in current finishes, where a buyer can still match the rest of a kitchen
What pulls Samsung resale value down
- Any handset still signed into a Samsung or Google account, which leaves the device locked after a reset and close to worthless until the original owner removes it
- Screen burn-in on AMOLED panels, visible as a ghosted image on a plain background, which is permanent
- Swollen batteries lifting the back panel or the screen, which is a safety problem as much as a value one
- Any device with finance still outstanding against it, which blocks a clean transfer to the buyer
Identifying and dating yours
- Settings will show the model number and the IMEI on a handset; photograph the model number and state the storage, because buyers filter on both
- Check battery health in the device care settings and quote the figure — buyers ask for a number rather than a description
- Display a plain white and a plain grey screen and photograph both; that is how burn-in is shown honestly and it prevents a dispute later
What lifts any cooker, whatever the label
Freestanding cookers sell well because they are simple to swap, and buyers judge them on oven accuracy and hob condition.
- Ovens holding accurate temperature
- All hob burners or zones working
- Complete with shelves, trays and grill pan
- Standard widths that fit common gaps
And what pulls one down
- Failed elements or inaccurate thermostats
- Heavily burnt-on interiors
- Missing shelves and grill pans
- Non-standard widths that fit few kitchens
Working out what yours is worth
- Heat the oven and check with a thermometer
- Test every hob zone
- Measure the width and state it clearly
What to state in the listing
- Fuel type, and whether an electric one needs a dedicated cooker circuit rather than a plug
- Width, height and depth in centimetres
- Make, model and approximate age from the rating plate
- What has been tested and what works, including grill, timer and every ring
Fuel, type and width lead: “60cm Freestanding Electric Cooker, Double Oven, Fan Assisted” or “Range Cooker, Dual Fuel, 90cm”. Width is a hard constraint in a fitted kitchen, so it belongs in the title, and fuel type filters out the buyers who could never have used it.
Preparing and photographing it
- Establish whether it is gas, electric or dual fuel, and arrange proper disconnection for anything on gas.
- Clean it thoroughly — oven interior, shelves, hob, and under the burners. Presentation moves the price here more than on almost any other appliance.
- Test every ring, the oven, the grill and the timer, and note the model number from the plate inside the door frame.
- The whole cooker front on, clean, in place
- The oven interior with the door open and the light on
- The hob surface from above, including all burners or rings
- The rating plate showing make, model and fuel type, plus any dent, chip or damaged seal
When it sells best, and handing it over
Steady, with lifts when people move house in late spring and early autumn. Clean, recent, working cookers in standard 60cm widths sell within a week; range cookers take longer but hold price.
Collection, two people, and never before it is safely disconnected. Tape the door shut for transport and remove the shelves so they do not slide about and crack the glass.
What buyers ask
How do I make sure a Samsung phone is ready to sell?
Sign out of both the Samsung and Google accounts before you factory reset it. A reset alone leaves the device locked to the previous account, and a locked handset is worth almost nothing to a buyer who cannot get past the setup screen.
What is screen burn-in and does it matter?
It is a permanent ghosted image on an AMOLED panel, usually from a navigation bar or keyboard left on screen for years. It cannot be fixed, and it should be photographed on a plain background rather than left for the buyer to find.
How much is a Samsung cooker worth?
Roughly £80 to £350 depending on condition, against £80 to £350 for cookers generally. The identification points above are what move a listing to the top of that range.
What the fees would take elsewhere
At the mid-range £215 for a Samsung cooker, against what the commission marketplaces would deduct:
| Platform | Fee | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| Poshmark | −£43 | £172 |
| eBay | −£29 | £186 |
| Mercari | −£22 | £194 |
| Etsy | −£14 | £201 |
| WishThrift | −£0 | £215 |
Seller-side rates verified 26 Jul 2026, percentages only — the per-order and processing charges those platforms add are excluded, so the real gap is wider.
