Nike Leggings Resale Value

Used Nike leggings are typically worth £9 to £34 (approximately $12 to $45), against £8 to £30 for leggings generally. Nike resale splits hard between the sportswear that everybody owns and the silhouettes collectors chase. The label inside decides which one you have.

What holds its value across Nike

  • Dunk, Air Force 1, Air Max 1/90/95 and any Jordan numbered 1 to 6 — these are the silhouettes with a standing resale market rather than a clearance one
  • Collaboration releases, which carry a second logo on the tongue tag or heel and can multiply the price several times over
  • Vintage tagged pieces: an orange or blue-tag Nike from the 80s and 90s is a collectors’ market entirely separate from modern sportswear
  • Deadstock with the original box and both original laces, which is the condition collectors actually pay the premium for

What pulls Nike resale value down

  • Yellowed or crumbling midsoles — polyurethane hydrolyses with age and it cannot be reversed, which ends most stored-away pairs
  • Generic mass-market lines (Revolution, Downshifter, Flex) that were cheap new and have essentially no resale floor
  • Missing box and laces on anything collectors buy, which routinely costs a third
  • Creased toe boxes on leather uppers, the first thing a buyer zooms in on

Identifying and dating yours

  1. The production date is printed on the size tag inside the shoe as a month and year — photograph it, because buyers use it to date the pair
  2. The style code on that tag (nine digits, a dash, three digits) identifies the exact colourway and is what buyers search
  3. Stitching should be even and the Swoosh edges crisp; wandering stitch lines and a soft-edged Swoosh are the commonest tells on a fake

What lifts any leggings, whatever the label

Leggings are the clothing item buyers most want reassurance about, because fabric that has gone sheer is unusable.

  • Recognised activewear brands with a following
  • Fabric that stays opaque when stretched
  • Waistbands with full elastic recovery
  • No pilling on the inner thigh

And what pulls one down

  • Fabric gone sheer when stretched
  • Pilling between the thighs
  • Slack waistbands that roll down
  • Unbranded leggings, worth very little

Working out what yours is worth

  1. Stretch the fabric over your hand against the light
  2. Check the inner thigh area closely
  3. Stretch the waistband and see whether it recovers

What to state in the listing

  • Brand, style name, size and inseam length
  • Fabric composition and whether they are squat-proof or sheer when stretched
  • Waistband height and whether it has pockets
  • Pilling on the inner thigh, and gusset seam condition

Brand, style and size: “Lululemon Align Leggings, 25 inch, Size 8, Black”. Named styles from activewear brands are searched exactly. State the inseam length, since the same style comes in several.

Preparing and photographing it

  1. Stretch the fabric over your hand and check whether it becomes sheer. Say honestly what you find.
  2. Check the waistband elastic, the gusset seam and the inner thigh for pilling or thinning.
  3. Note the brand, style name and fabric composition.
  1. Laid flat, front, whole leg in frame
  2. The waistband, showing width and elasticity
  3. The fabric stretched over a hand, showing opacity
  4. The inner thigh and gusset, plus the size tag

When it sells best, and handing it over

Steady all year with a January lift. Recognised activewear brands sell within days; high-street leggings sell slowly.

Very light and cheap to post.

What buyers ask

Do Nike trainers hold their value?

Some lines hold very well and most do not. Dunks, Air Force 1s, Air Max and Jordans have a real second-hand market; the mass-market running lines have almost none.

How do I date a pair of Nikes?

The size tag inside carries a production month and year. Photograph it — it is the single fact serious buyers ask for, and it also separates vintage from retro.

How much are Nike leggings worth?

Roughly £9 to £34 depending on condition, against £8 to £30 for leggings generally. The identification points above are what move a listing to the top of that range.

What the fees would take elsewhere
