The checklist before you pay
Structural wear at the corners and strap attachment points, and interior odour, which does not photograph and is very hard to remove.
Run through these before money changes hands — they are the things that decide whether a tote bag is worth what is being asked:
- Sagging, collapsed shapes
- Ink and cosmetic marks inside the lining
- Worn corners and scuffed bases
- Promotional and canvas totes, worth very little
And the things worth paying more for, because they hold their value:

Questions to ask the seller
These are the three that get asked most often about a tote bag, and the answers tell you most of what you need:
Give the internal dimensions and the largest laptop you have actually carried in it. It converts far better than a general claim of roomy.
Photograph it. Tote bases collect scuffs and dirt and buyers know to check, so showing a clean one is a genuine advantage.
Measure from the top of the bag to the top of the handle arc and say. It decides whether it can be worn over a coat.

Steady all year with a lift in September as people return to work and study. Leather and known brands sell within a fortnight; plain canvas totes compete heavily on price.
