• Whether it is waterproof, showerproof, or a shower-resistant fashion coat
• Whether the seams are taped, and whether it is lined
• Any peeling of the inner coating, which is the usual end-of-life fault

Brand, waterproof rating and size: “Rains Waterproof Raincoat, Size M, Taped Seams”. Named outdoor brands carry real value. If it has a millimetre hydrostatic head rating on the label, quote it — buyers who care about staying dry search for exactly that.

Preparing and photographing it

1. Run water over a sleeve and watch. If it soaks in rather than beading, the coating has gone and the coat should be described as showerproof at best.
2. Check the taped seams inside for lifting, which is where waterproof coats fail first.

What buyers ask

Can a delaminated waterproof jacket be repaired?

No. Once the membrane separates from the face fabric the garment is finished as waterproof kit. Describe it plainly and sell it as a casual jacket instead.

My jacket wets out — is it ruined?

Probably not. Wetting out usually means the water-repellent finish has worn off, which a proofing wash restores. That is different from delamination and worth distinguishing.
