• Width, height and depth in centimetres
• Make, model and approximate age from the rating plate

Fuel, type and width lead: “60cm Freestanding Electric Cooker, Double Oven, Fan Assisted” or “Range Cooker, Dual Fuel, 90cm”. Width is a hard constraint in a fitted kitchen, so it belongs in the title, and fuel type filters out the buyers who could never have used it.

Preparing and photographing it

1. Establish whether it is gas, electric or dual fuel, and arrange proper disconnection for anything on gas.
2. Clean it thoroughly — oven interior, shelves, hob, and under the burners. Presentation moves the price here more than on almost any other appliance.
3. Test every ring, the oven, the grill and the timer, and note the model number from the plate inside the door frame.

Steady, with lifts when people move house in late spring and early autumn. Clean, recent, working cookers in standard 60cm widths sell within a week; range cookers take longer but hold price.

Collection, two people, and never before it is safely disconnected. Tape the door shut for transport and remove the shelves so they do not slide about and crack the glass.

Can I disconnect a gas cooker myself to sell it?

No. Gas appliances must be disconnected and refitted by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and you should say in the listing that this is what the buyer needs to arrange.
