What holds its value across BAPE

• Shark hoodies in the original camo colourways, which are the single most recognised thing the label produces
• Pieces from the NIGO era before 2011, which are treated as archive and priced separately from current production
• Bapesta trainers in their original colourways, which are collected in the same way the sneakers they reference are
• ABC camo in the less common colours, which were produced in smaller runs and are searched for specifically

What pulls BAPE resale value down

• Cracked and flaking prints, which is what ends most printed streetwear and cannot be restored
• Faded camo, where repeated hot washing has taken the contrast out of the pattern that the whole garment exists for
• Yellowed Bapesta midsoles, which is the same polyurethane degradation that affects every trainer of that construction
• Missing interior tags, which on a heavily copied label is what buyers use to satisfy themselves and is a large deduction when absent

Identifying and dating yours

1. Photograph the interior neck and wash tags flat — on this label they are the first thing a buyer asks to see
2. On a shark hoodie, photograph the teeth stitching and the full-zip hood, since the quality of that embroidery is where copies fail
3. Say whether the piece is from the NIGO era or current production, because the two sell at quite different prices

• Fill type and, for down, the fill power or down percentage
• Whether the hood and fur trim detach, and whether the fur is real or faux
• Pit-to-pit and full length
• Whether it is waterproof, showerproof or neither, and whether the coating still works

Preparing and photographing it

1. Read the label for the fill: down, feather or synthetic wadding, and the outer fabric.
2. Check the hood, its fur trim and whether both detach, plus every zip, popper and drawcord.
3. Test whether water still beads on the outer, and say honestly if the coating has washed off.

How do buyers check a BAPE hoodie?

They look at the interior tags, the stitch density on the shark teeth and the camo print alignment across seams. Photograph all three and most questions disappear.

Does faded camo reduce the price?

Substantially, because the print is the product. Wash streetwear cold and inside out, and if yours has faded, photograph it in daylight rather than under warm light.
