Material, size and buckle: “Leather Belt, 36in, Silver Buckle, Full Grain”. The buckle-to-middle-hole size is the number buyers need. Say full grain, genuine leather or synthetic — those terms mean quite different things and buyers who know that pay accordingly.

Preparing and photographing it

1. Measure from the inside of the buckle to the middle hole, in inches and centimetres. That is the size.
2. Check the leather at the fold behind the buckle, which is where belts crack and eventually break.
3. Check the buckle for plating loss and the keeper loop, which is frequently missing.
