What you keep on a typical sale
On a £1,400 sale — around the middle for this category — a 20% commission would take £280 and a 10% one £140. On WishThrift you keep the whole £1,400, and the buyer pays no surcharge either. The full fee comparison sets out what each marketplace actually charges.
When vehicles actually sell
Vehicle sales lift in spring and around plate changes, and motorbikes and scooters are strongly seasonal — March to August is the window, and a bike listed in December sells for noticeably less. A long MOT matters more to the price than the month you list in.
Before you list anything
Two things decide most of the price in every category, and both are settled before you write the listing. The first is the condition grade: WishThrift uses five — New with Tags, Like New, Good, Fair and For Parts — and what each one means is worth reading, because grading optimistically does not raise the price, it just produces a buyer who arrives expecting something else. The second is the price itself: the vehicles value guides price each item across all five grades.

Frequently asked questions
How do I avoid being scammed selling a vehicle?
Confirm the funds have cleared into your own account before releasing keys or the logbook — a screenshot or a pending transfer is not payment. WishThrift does not process or hold payments, so this check is entirely yours to make.
What paperwork do I need?
The logbook in your name, service history, MOT certificates and receipts for significant work. Any outstanding finance must be settled or clearly disclosed, and the ownership transfer completed on the day.
Should I let a buyer test drive?
Yes, but check their licence and that they are insured to drive it first, and never let a stranger drive off alone.
