The short version
- Typical range: £10 – £55 — see the full blinds value guide
- What decides your price: condition, and how well you evidence it in photographs
- Cost to sell here: nothing, at any price
- Category: Home & Garden
Before you photograph it
Ten minutes here is worth more than anything else you will do. Buyers are deciding between your listing and someone else’s, and preparation is what visibly separates the two.
- Check whether the blind has a cord or chain, and whether a breakaway connector or cleat safety device is present.
- Measure the exact width and drop, and note whether the measurement is the recess or the blind itself.
- Test the mechanism through its full travel and check the slats or fabric for creases and sun damage.
The photographs that sell blinds
Four photographs do almost all the work. Shoot in daylight, near a window, with the item against something plain — and do not use the flash, which flattens texture and hides exactly what buyers are trying to see.
- The blind hung or extended fully, whole
- The mechanism, cord or chain, including any safety device
- A tape measure across the exact width
- The brackets and fixings, plus any bent slat, stain or fray
Photograph the flaws too. It feels counterproductive, but a listing that shows the worst of an item gets fewer questions, fewer withdrawn offers and fewer arguments at handover. Buyers who can see the damage stop imagining something worse.
Writing the title and description
Type and exact size: “Roller Blind, 120x160cm, Blackout, White”. Width and drop are the search and blinds are far less forgiving than curtains — a few centimetres out and it does not fit. Say roller, venetian, roman or vertical, which are entirely different products.
Then state these in the description, because a buyer who has to ask is a buyer who might not bother:
- Exact width and drop in centimetres, and whether that is the blind or the recess
- Type — roller, venetian, roman, vertical or pleated
- Whether it is corded or cordless, and what safety device is fitted
- Whether brackets and fixings are included
What buyers will actually ask
You will receive the same three messages about blinds. Answering them in the listing itself removes the back-and-forth, and answering them well when they do arrive is what turns an enquiry into a sale.
Check and answer plainly. Looped cords and chains are a genuine hazard to small children, and blinds sold new must include a safety device. If yours has no cleat or breakaway connector, say so.
Measure the blind itself, in millimetres if you can. Blinds cannot be adjusted the way curtains can, so the measurement has to be right.
Say so. Brackets are usually specific to the blind and sourcing replacements for an unbranded blind is difficult.
Pricing it so it actually sells
Start from the honest condition grade rather than the price you hope for. WishThrift listings use five grades — New with Tags, Like New, Good, Fair and For Parts — and what each grade means is worth reading before you choose, because grading up is the most expensive mistake sellers make. It does not raise the price; it produces a buyer who arrives expecting something else.
The blinds value guide prices all five grades for this item. Pick your grade, take the figure, and if you sit between two grades price toward the lower one. Items priced honestly sell faster than items priced hopefully, and on a free platform there is no fee eating the difference anyway.
What you keep, compared
On a £32 sale — roughly the middle of the range for blinds — here is what the commission-charging platforms would take, and what you would keep on each:
| Where you sell it | Fee | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| WishThrift | £0 | £32 |
| Poshmark | −£6 | £26 |
| eBay | −£4 | £28 |
| Mercari | −£3 | £29 |
| Etsy | −£2 | £30 |
Seller-side rates verified 26 Jul 2026 — Poshmark: 20% commission on sales of $15 and above; eBay: 13.6% final value fee, plus a per-order fee; Mercari: flat 10% selling fee; Etsy: 6.5% transaction fee, plus a listing fee and payment processing. Percentages are applied to the sterling figure above; the fixed per-order and processing charges those platforms add are quoted in their own currency and are not included here, so the real deductions are slightly larger. Timing and getting it to the buyer
Steady year round with a spring and autumn lift around redecorating. Common recess sizes sell fastest because they fit standard windows.
Roll rather than fold, and post in a tube or long box. A folded roller blind keeps the crease permanently and a bent venetian slat cannot be straightened.
WishThrift does not process payments or arrange delivery — you and the buyer agree both directly — so confirm payment has cleared before the item leaves your hands, and keep the conversation on the site so there is a record of what was agreed.

Frequently asked questions
Are corded blinds safe to sell?
They can be sold, but the cord is a genuine strangulation risk to young children and blinds supplied new must have a safety device fitted. State whether yours has a cleat or breakaway connector, and if it has neither, say so plainly so the buyer can fit one before hanging it.
What are used blinds worth?
Typically £10 to £55, with made-to-measure and motorised blinds above. See the blinds value guide for the condition bands.
Can a blind be cut down to size?
Roller and venetian blinds can often be narrowed by a specialist or carefully at home; roman and pleated blinds generally cannot. Give the exact size and let the buyer judge.
