New with Tags — Condition Grade Explained

New with Tags is one of the five condition grades a seller can put on a WishThrift listing, and it sits at roughly 100% of what the same item makes at the top grade. What it means in practice depends entirely on what the thing is, so the 24 category guides below each say where the line falls for that kind of item.

New with Tags by category

CategoryWhere the line falls at this grade
New with Tags Art & CollectablesUnhung and unframed, or still in the publisher’s wrap with the certificate. On a print that means unfaded and never exposed on a wall.
New with Tags Baby & KidsUnused with the tag and the manual, and well inside any expiry date. On car seats the manufacture date matters as much as the condition.
New with Tags Bags & HandbagsUnused, with the tag or the dust bag and the protective film still on the feet and the hardware. A bag carried once is Like New.
New with Tags Bicycles & CyclingUnridden, with the tyres unmarked and the transfers still filmed. A bike ridden round the block once is Like New.
New with Tags BooksUnread, with the spine uncracked and any shrink wrap intact. A book read once carefully is Like New, not this grade.
New with Tags Cameras & PhotographyUnused with the seal or the tag, body cap on and the sensor never exposed to air. A camera that has taken frames is not this grade.
New with Tags ClothingThe tag has to still be attached. A piece that was bought, washed once and never worn is Like New, however unworn it looks.
New with Tags ElectronicsSealed, or opened and never set up. Once a device has been registered to an account it is Like New at best, whatever the box looks like.
New with Tags FurnitureUnused, and usually still flat packed in its sealed carton with the fittings bag unopened. Assembled once and never used is Like New.
New with Tags GamingSealed in its factory wrap, or opened and never connected. A console that has been online and signed in is not this grade.
New with Tags Home & GardenUnused with the tag, the box or the shrink wrap. A vase that has held water once, or a rug that has been walked on, is Like New.
New with Tags Jewellery & WatchesUnworn, with the tag, the box or the sealed pouch. On a watch that also means the protective sticker still on the caseback.
New with Tags Kids’ ClothingTags attached and never worn, which happens constantly here because children grow through a size before the clothes come out of the drawer.
New with Tags Kitchen & AppliancesUnused and boxed, with the manual and every accessory still bagged. An appliance run once to test it has already left this grade.
New with Tags Men’s ClothingTags attached and unworn, with the basting still in the vents and the pockets on a jacket. Cutting the basting does not itself mean worn.
New with Tags Music & InstrumentsUnplayed, with the tag, the case candy and the factory setup untouched. An instrument played in a shop is Like New at best.
New with Tags Pet SuppliesUnused with the tag, and never introduced to an animal. Scent is the reason this grade carries a premium that other categories would not give it.
New with Tags Shoes & FootwearUnworn, in the original box, with the sole showing nothing but factory texture. Tried on indoors once is still New with Tags; walked outside is not.
New with Tags Sports & OutdoorsUnused with the tag, and on safety equipment still inside its certification date. Tried on indoors is fine; taken out on a pitch is not.
New with Tags Tools & DIYUnused in its case with the accessories bagged. On cordless tools that also means cells that have never been through a charge cycle.
New with Tags Toys & GamesSealed, or boxed with every bag unopened. A set built once and carefully taken apart is Like New, because the seals are gone for good.
New with Tags VehiclesUnregistered and undelivered, which in practice means an unused accessory, a boxed part or a machine still on its delivery wrap.
New with Tags Vinyl & CDsSealed, or opened and never played. A record played once on a good deck is Like New, and the distinction is worth holding to.
New with Tags Women’s ClothingTags attached and unworn, which matters more here than elsewhere because an unworn piece can still be measured against the tag it came with.

The grade either side

New with Tags sits next to Like New. All five grades and how they are priced are set out on the condition grades page, and you can see every listing currently at the New with Tags grade.

Grades are declared by the seller. WishThrift does not inspect, verify or grade items, so the grade is the seller’s summary and the photographs are the evidence behind it. Listing is free and there are no selling fees.
