Good Women’s Clothing — Second-Hand Buying Guide

Good is the grade most second-hand women’s clothing is actually sold at — roughly 65% of top price, or $5 to $131 across the category (about £4 to £98). Worn regularly and complete, hanging correctly with fastenings working. Altered dimensions, a stretched panel or a fault put it in Fair.

Where the line falls

Women’s sizing is not a measurement: the same label number varies between brands and between decades, so condition and cut are read together and a size label alone settles nothing.

For comparison, one grade up is Like New Women’s Clothing and one step down is Fair Women’s Clothing.

Listing at the Good grade

State whether it has ever been altered, and give the current measurements if it has. An altered garment is a different size to its label.

Shots that carry the most weight in women’s clothing:

  • Midi Skirt — Full length on a hanger or laid flat, front
  • Pleated Skirt — The skirt hung, front, whole, so the pleats hang naturally
  • Slip Dress — On a hanger, full length, front, showing the drape
  • Sports Bra — The bra laid flat, front, whole

On a typical $68 listing, a marketplace charging 20% takes $14, one charging 13.6% takes $9 and one charging 10% takes $7. WishThrift charges neither side, so you keep the whole $68. Listing is free.
