Sell Your Freezer in India

Used freezers in India typically sell for ₹7,500 to ₹32,000 (about $81 to $335). A freezer sells on capacity, star rating and being demonstrably clean inside — and the one rule that must be passed on is that it should stand upright for hours before being switched on.

Selling a freezer in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Negotiation is normal and expected rather than a sign of a difficult buyer. Price with a little room in it and say whether the price is firm.

Demand climbs ahead of the festival season and again in the run-up to wedding season, when clothing, jewellery and home items all move faster.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Check the seal and lid catch
  • Defrost fully and photograph the clean interior

Getting it ready

  • Defrost it completely, dry it out and leave the door ajar so it does not develop a smell before collection.
  • Check every drawer and flap for cracks, and note the model and capacity from the rating plate inside.

Photograph

  • The interior with the door open, defrosted and dry, drawers visible
  • The door seal all the way round, plus any dent, rust patch or cracked drawer

Put in the description

  • External width, height and depth in centimetres, and internal capacity in litres
  • Type — chest, upright, under counter or integrated — and whether frost free

Collection, transported upright wherever possible. Tell the buyer to let it stand upright for several hours before switching on so the compressor oil settles — ignoring that is how a working freezer arrives broken.

Steady all year with a lift in summer and around house moves. Under counter models in standard widths sell fastest; large chest freezers are slower but face little competition.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹32,050 a buyer pays is the ₹32,050 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Where in India

Common questions

Where can I sell a freezer in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Is it frost free?

Say so in the title if it is. Frost free machines command a real premium and buyers filter for them specifically.

Is a second-hand freezer worth buying?

Yes, they are durable and prices are low. Check the seals and that it reaches temperature reliably.

Why is ice build-up a problem on a frost-free model?

It means the auto-defrost system has failed, which is a real repair. On manual models it is just normal defrosting.
