1. Test it and capture a still, then look at it honestly at full size to judge the real image quality.
2. Check the microphone by recording a short clip, and test the clip or mount on a monitor edge.
3. Note the true native resolution and frame rate rather than the marketing figure on the box.

Why does Surface memory matter so much second hand?

It is soldered to the board, so a buyer cannot add more later. A higher-memory model is worth appreciably more and should be stated in the listing title.
