1. Gather the V5C, MOT certificate and any service receipts, and note the mileage and engine capacity.
2. Start it from cold and let it idle, since cold starting is where tired mopeds show their problems.
3. Check the tyres, brakes and lights, and clean off any corrosion around the exhaust and fasteners.
