Buying baby & kids in Richmond
Richmond is the state capital, on the fall line of the river, with a great deal of preserved historic architecture and a long tobacco manufacturing past. It has a large urban university and a strong contemporary arts scene.
Families pass this on within a few streets more than any other category, often before it is ever listed publicly. Supply arrives in waves as each stage is finished with, so timing and being nearby matter more than hunting for the lowest price.
What to check in person
Fold and unfold a pram yourself before you pay, because that is the part people struggle with and the mechanism is what fails. Check the harness straps and clips, look for cracks around the joints, and check the wheels run true.
Collecting it in Richmond
It needs a car boot rather than a bag, so agree somewhere you can actually stop for a few minutes. That is easier away from the centre than in it.
The older neighbourhoods have narrow streets and row housing with limited parking, so confirm where a vehicle can stop. The river divides the city, so agree which side.

The university clears student housing each May, and the old row-house stock brings genuinely old furniture onto the market. Capitol and agency staff relocate on posting cycles of their own.
Say the model name and year and list exactly which accessories are included. Give it a proper clean first, because this is the category where a buyer’s decision is made in the first few seconds of looking. Steady all year; second-hand supply rises as each cohort outgrows a stage.
Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.
