Buying cameras & photography in Reno
Reno sits at the foot of the mountains on the edge of the high desert, with a casino economy that has been substantially supplemented by logistics and technology as companies have moved east from the coast. The lake and the ski resorts are close.
Whether a body and a lens actually fit together is a question of mount, adapter and firmware, and getting it wrong turns an apparent bargain into an ornament. Bringing your own body along to try a lens on settles it in a moment.
What to check in person
Hold the lens up to a light and look through it for haze, dust and any web-like growth inside the elements. Fire the shutter at several speeds, check the battery door and the tripod thread, and take one frame to look at on the screen.
Collecting it in Reno
It fits in a bag, so most people meet on the way to something else. A station or a high street works, and neither side needs a car.
Driving is assumed and the city is compact. Mountain passes close in winter storms, which matters if either of you is coming over them, so agree a fallback.

Technology and logistics relocations have brought a wave of households in from the coast, and the university clears student housing each May. Ski and outdoor equipment turns over on a genuine season.
Include a sample frame taken with the actual lens rather than describing its condition, since that answers what wording cannot. Name the mount explicitly and list every cap, hood, filter and strap that goes with it. Lifts before summer holidays and again in the run-up to Christmas.
Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.
