Selling video games in Madinat Zayed
Madinat Zayed is the main town of the Al Dhafra region, out in the desert south-west of Abu Dhabi, and it exists to serve the oil and gas industry and the surrounding farms. It is also the home of the Al Dhafra festival, so the town’s calendar has a genuine peak rather than running flat through the year.
The workforce here is largely on rotation and on fixed-term contracts, so households form and dissolve on a schedule. When a posting ends the entire contents of a place go at once, which is when the best-condition goods appear.
Distances out here are real and everything is done by car, so agree a landmark in town and a generous window rather than a precise minute. Anyone collecting from one of the outlying settlements should confirm the drive before agreeing a price, not after.
Ask whether the item has spent time in an unairconditioned store or vehicle. Desert heat out here is sustained rather than occasional, and it degrades adhesives, batteries and rubber long before anything looks wrong.
Handing it over in Madinat Zayed
The UAE has an unusually active second-hand market driven by how often people arrive and leave — relocation sales mean good-quality items turn over quickly and often at well below their age.

Getting it ready
- Check every disc or cartridge for scratches, and confirm each is in its correct case with the correct artwork.
- Confirm manuals and inserts are present, which matters more on older titles than most sellers realise.
