  • Low lamp hours with the counter shown
  • Original remote, cables and ceiling mount

What pulls it down

  • Missing remotes, which are often proprietary
  • Dead pixels on the imaging panel

Selling a projector in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

India Post, Delhivery and DTDC all offer nationwide coverage, and courier cost varies sharply between metros and smaller towns.

Demand climbs ahead of the festival season and again in the run-up to wedding season, when clothing, jewellery and home items all move faster.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Project a plain white image to reveal dust and dead pixels
  • Confirm the remote and cables are present

Getting it ready

  • Find the lamp hours in the menu, usually under Information or Status, and note the rated lamp life.
  • Check the brightness in lumens and the native resolution from the label or manual.

Photograph

  • The menu screen showing lamp hours
  • The ports, remote and any cables or bag included

Put in the description

  • Native resolution and supported maximum, stated separately
  • Brightness in lumens and contrast ratio

Reasonably robust but the lens needs protecting. Use the original bag if you have one, and never post with a hot lamp recently used.

Lifts before Christmas and in summer for outdoor viewing. Bright, genuine 1080p and 4K models sell fastest.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹38,500 a buyer pays is the ₹38,500 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Where in India

India is a big place and what sells well moves with it. These are the parts of India with their own page for projectors.

Common questions

Where can I sell a projector in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

What is the native resolution?

Give the panel’s actual resolution, not the maximum input it accepts. Many projectors accept 1080p and display far less.

What matters most on a used projector?

Lamp hours. A replacement lamp is expensive, so a projector near end of lamp life is worth far less.

Are LED projectors better second hand?

Yes, because LED and laser light sources last many times longer than traditional lamps and avoid the replacement cost entirely.
