Sell Your Leather Jacket in India

Used leather jackets in India typically sell for ₹3,850 to ₹23,000 (about $40 to $240). Leather is judged by feel, and buyers cannot feel it through a screen — so the whole job is proving the hide is sound and the lining is intact.

What lifts the price

  • Genuine leather with a supple, broken-in feel
  • Classic cuts that stay in demand across seasons

What pulls it down

  • Broken or replaced zips
  • A strong stored-away smell, which is hard to shift

Selling a leather jacket in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Negotiation is normal and expected rather than a sign of a difficult buyer. Price with a little room in it and say whether the price is firm.

Two practical things shape a sale here. Courier serviceability varies by PIN code rather than by city, so check the buyer’s code before promising delivery. And packaging matters more than most sellers expect on long domestic routes — a poorly wrapped parcel arriving damaged is the commonest cause of a dispute.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Work every zip and press stud
  • Inspect the lining at the underarms where wear shows first

Getting it ready

  • Wipe it down with a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally, away from any radiator.
  • Work the zips. A seized main zip is the single most common reason a leather jacket sells cheap or not at all.

Photograph

  • The lining, especially under the arms and across the back
  • Every zip pull, plus any crack, scuff or repair

Put in the description

  • Whether it is real leather, suede, sheepskin or faux — state this plainly
  • Pit-to-pit and sleeve length, since leather has no give and sizing is unforgiving

Heavy and bulky, so postage costs real money — get a quote before you agree a price. Local collection is often easier, and lets the buyer try it on, which converts far better for leather than photographs ever will.

Strongest from September to November. A good biker or bomber in a common size usually sells within two to three weeks; unusual sizes and colours take longer but hold their price.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹23,100 a buyer pays is the ₹23,100 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Where in India

India is a big place and what sells well moves with it. These are the parts of India with their own page for leather jackets.

Common questions

Where can I sell a leather jacket in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Is the lining torn?

Photograph it rather than describing it. Lining damage is cheap to repair and buyers price it in calmly when they can see the extent.

How much is a used leather jacket worth?

Real leather in good condition holds value well and sells across a wide bracket. Bonded or faux leather sells for very little because it deteriorates.

Does a worn-in leather jacket sell for less?

Not necessarily. Genuine leather that has softened attractively often sells better than stiff, unworn examples. Cracking is the problem, not patina.
