Used dolls in Canada typically sell for C$9 to C$115 (about $7 to $81). Collectable dolls and play dolls are different markets, and original clothing is what separates them.

Selling dolls in Canada
Interac e-Transfer is the norm and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. It is what most buyers will suggest before anything else.
Canada’s resale market is concentrated in a handful of metro areas separated by very long distances, which makes it unusually collection-led — most buyers are looking for something they can pick up the same week.
Canada Post, Purolator and UPS cover the country, but rates change sharply between provinces and remote postcodes carry surcharges.
Shipping cost is the single commonest reason a Canadian listing stalls. Decide collection versus courier before you price it, and say which you are offering.
Working out what yours is worth
- Identify the line, character and year
- Check whether the outfit is original to the doll
Getting it ready
- Look for markings on the back of the neck, the head or between the shoulders. This is where the maker and often the year are stamped.
- Clean the face gently with a barely damp cloth. Never use solvent, and never attempt to restyle rooted hair with heat.
Photograph
- The doll full length, standing or held upright against a plain background
- The face straight on in daylight, close enough to show paint condition
- The hair from behind, the hands and feet, and any clothing, box or certificate included
Put in the description
- Height in centimetres, and material — vinyl, porcelain, composition or cloth
- Whether original clothing, shoes, stand, box or certificate are included
- Condition of the face paint, hair and joints, described separately
Maker, line and era beat description every time: “Vintage Pedigree Sindy Doll, 1970s, Original Outfit” or “Barbie 1990s Bundle, 5 Dolls”. Collectors search the maker’s name, so if there is a mark on the neck, that word belongs in the title even if you do not recognise it.
Post with the head and limbs supported — wrap the head separately in tissue, because a vinyl face presses and marks against a hard box edge. Porcelain should be double boxed or collected.
It costs nothing to list
There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the C$113 a buyer pays is the C$113 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Common questions
Where can I sell dolls in Canada?
List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. Interac e-Transfer is the norm and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. It is what most buyers will suggest before anything else.
Are the limbs loose?
Hold it up and check. Loose limbs are repairable but the buyer needs to know they are taking that on.
Are old dolls worth anything?
Collectable lines with a following can be worth a good deal, especially boxed. Mass-produced play dolls sell for modest sums.
Do the original clothes matter?
A great deal. Original outfits and shoes are frequently worth as much as the doll itself.
