Find the fixings. A flat-pack unit without its cam locks and shelf pins is much harder to sell, so bag them and photograph the bag.
Check the back panel. Hardboard backs bow or come loose, and a missing back means the unit will not stand square.

Height and material are the search: “IKEA Billy Bookcase, White, 202cm, 5 Shelves” or “Solid Oak Bookshelf, 4 Shelves, 120cm”. Model names carry enormous weight here because buyers are usually matching something they already own, so name it exactly if you know it.

Sells steadily, with a clear lift in September and January. Tall units in common white or oak finishes move within a fortnight; unusual sizes take longer but face less competition.
