Second-hand music & instruments in Jodhpur typically sells for ₹450 to ₹28,500 (about $5 to $300). Where and when it was built moves the figure enormously, and buyers pay close attention to the country stamped inside. A model still made today has its price capped by the new one, while a discontinued line answers to nothing but demand.

Buying music & instruments in Jodhpur
Genuinely distinctive wooden and decorative pieces appear here far more often than elsewhere.
Two examples of the same model rarely sound alike, because timber, age and how hard a thing has been used all leave their mark. Hearing it in a quiet room is the whole decision, and no recording made on a phone stands in for that.
What to check in person
Ask what it has been stored in and where, because an unheated room does more harm over a winter than years of playing. On anything electric, work every switch and socket while it is plugged in, and listen for crackle as the controls turn.
Collecting it in Jodhpur
It needs a car boot rather than a bag, so agree somewhere you can actually stop for a few minutes. That is easier away from the centre than in it.
The old city inside the walls is narrow and difficult for vehicles, so anything large is collected from outside. The newer areas are open and easy to drive.

The export furniture trade means well-made wooden pieces circulate locally in a way they do not in most cities. Desert heat and dust are the two things to ask about for anything stored.
Say when it was last set up or serviced, and be honest about buzzes and dead spots. Have it tuned and ready to play when the buyer arrives, and include the case if you have it, because a case is worth real money on its own. Lifts in September as lessons restart, and again after Christmas.
UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.
