Buying toys & games in Amarillo
Amarillo sits high on the plains in the middle of cattle country, with a beef processing industry of national significance, a helium reserve and a stretch of the old cross-country highway running through it. It is flat, windy and a long way from anywhere.
Families pass these on within a few streets as children move past a stage, and much of it never reaches a wider audience at all. Supply arrives in waves after birthdays and Christmas, so being close by matters more than searching hard.
What to check in person
Count the pieces if a set claims to be complete, and check for the small parts that go missing first. Look for name labels and chew marks, test anything with a motor or a sound, and make sure batteries have not been left in to corrode.
Collecting it in Amarillo
It needs a car boot rather than a bag, so agree somewhere you can actually stop for a few minutes. That is easier away from the centre than in it.
The city is flat and on a grid, so addresses are easy and parking is generous. It serves a vast rural area, so buyers may be driving a long way in and will want a firm time.

Cattle and processing employment runs on its own cycles, and the surrounding ranch country brings tools and equipment into the city. Distance from anywhere larger means goods circulate locally for longer.
Give the set number and the age range, since those are what buyers actually search for. Wash or wipe everything down beforehand and photograph it in daylight, because grubby plastic sells for a fraction of what clean plastic does. Builds from October to Christmas, then again in a quieter second-hand wave in January.
Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.
