Sell Your Travel System in the US

Used travel systems in the US typically sell for $110 to $540. Travel systems sell better than their individual parts, because a buyer expecting a complete set will not settle for pieces.

What lifts the price

  • Complete sets with pushchair, carrycot and car seat
  • Recognised brands with parts still available

What pulls it down

  • Car seats close to or past their expiry date
  • Any accident history on the car seat

Selling a travel system in the US

Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.

USPS, UPS and FedEx all cover the country. USPS Ground Advantage is normally cheapest for anything under a few pounds in weight; above that the gap narrows quickly.

Distances are the real constraint. State plainly whether you will ship or collection only, because a buyer three states away will otherwise ask.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Lay out every component and photograph them together
  • Confirm the adapters match both the chassis and the seat

Getting it ready

  • Check the car seat element carefully: its expiry date, and whether it has ever been in a collision. If it has, do not sell it for use.
  • Wash the fabrics, test the fold, the brake and every attachment click.

Photograph

  • The pram configuration and the pushchair configuration, both set up
  • The car seat with its expiry date stamp visible

Put in the description

  • Whether the car seat has ever been in a collision, and whether you are the original owner
  • Fold dimensions, and all accessories included

Brand, model and what is included: “Silver Cross Wave Travel System — Pram, Carrycot, Car Seat and Adapters”. Listing every component in the title is what separates a travel system price from a pram price. State the car seat expiry year in the description.

Consistently strong. Complete systems from recognised brands sell within days; incomplete ones sell as prams for considerably less.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the $538 a buyer pays is the $538 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Common questions

Where can I sell a travel system in the US?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.

Is the car seat safe to use?

Answer directly. If it has been in any collision, or if you cannot vouch for its full history, say so — a compromised seat should not be sold for use whatever it looks like.

Do the adapters really matter?

A great deal. They are model-specific, expensive to buy alone, and without them the car seat will not fit the chassis.

Can I sell the car seat with it?

Only if you know its full history and it is within its expiry date. A seat that has been in a collision should never be resold.
