What pulls it down

  • Stretched, slack elastic
  • Pilling on the seat from pool surfaces

Selling swimwear in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

India’s second-hand market runs heavily through direct conversation — buyers expect to message, negotiate and ask questions before committing, and a listing that answers those questions up front sells noticeably faster than one that does not.

Negotiation is normal and expected rather than a sign of a difficult buyer. Price with a little room in it and say whether the price is firm.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Stretch the elastic and check it recovers
  • Hold the fabric to the light for thinning

Getting it ready

  • Check the hygiene liner is present and intact on bikini bottoms and one-pieces.
  • Check the elastic at the leg and back, and the fabric for chlorine damage, thinning or bobbling.

Photograph

  • The hygiene liner, showing it is intact
  • The size tag, plus any thinning, bobbling or mark

Put in the description

  • Style, brand and size, with the cup size for bikini tops
  • Whether the hygiene liner is present and intact

Tiny and very cheap to post.

Sharply seasonal, April to August, with a small winter-holiday lift. Off-season listings sell slowly.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹4,500 a buyer pays is the ₹4,500 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Common questions

Where can I sell swimwear in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Has it been worn in chlorine?

Say honestly. Chlorine thins and fades swim fabric, and buyers can usually tell once it arrives.

Can you sell used swimwear?

Yes, provided the hygiene liner is intact and it is clean. State both explicitly, because buyers will ask.

What is chlorine damage?

Fabric thinning and fading from pool use. It shows as a slightly transparent, rough texture and cannot be reversed.
