Sell Your SSD in India

Used SSDs in India typically sell for ₹2,550 to ₹11,500 (about $27 to $120). Drives sell on capacity, interface and health, and the number that matters is the total data written, because that is how much life the drive has used.

What lifts the price

  • Larger capacities and NVMe interfaces
  • Original packaging for safe posting

What pulls it down

  • Small capacities, worth almost nothing
  • Unbranded drives with overstated capacity

Selling a SSD in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

India’s second-hand market runs heavily through direct conversation — buyers expect to message, negotiate and ask questions before committing, and a listing that answers those questions up front sells noticeably faster than one that does not.

Negotiation is normal and expected rather than a sign of a difficult buyer. Price with a little room in it and say whether the price is firm.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Note the capacity and interface type
  • Securely erase the drive before selling

Getting it ready

  • Read the drive health and total bytes written with a free SMART tool, and screenshot it.
  • Note the exact capacity, form factor and interface: SATA, NVMe, M.2 or 2.5 inch.

Put in the description

  • Capacity, form factor and interface
  • Brand, model and read/write speeds

Tiny and cheap to post, but static-sensitive. Use an antistatic bag inside a padded envelope.

Steady all year. Larger capacities and NVMe drives sell fastest; small SATA drives are abundant and cheap.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹11,550 a buyer pays is the ₹11,550 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Where in India

India is a big place and what sells well moves with it. These are the parts of India with their own page for SSDs.

Common questions

Where can I sell a SSD in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Will it fit my machine?

State the form factor and interface exactly. M.2 NVMe and 2.5in SATA are not interchangeable and the mistake is common.

How do I check a used SSD?

Run a health tool and report the total bytes written and health percentage. That is the equivalent of mileage for an SSD.

Do SSDs wear out?

They have a finite write endurance, though most consumer drives outlast the machines they are in. Quote the figures rather than guessing.
