Used golf bags in the US typically sell for $27 to $160. Golf bags are judged on the dividers and the strap, since those are what fail and what buyers test.

What lifts the price

  • Full-length dividers that keep clubs separated
  • Recognised golf brands

What pulls it down

  • Frayed straps at the anchor points
  • Faded fabric from sun exposure

Selling a golf bag in the US

Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.

USPS, UPS and FedEx all cover the country. USPS Ground Advantage is normally cheapest for anything under a few pounds in weight; above that the gap narrows quickly.

Demand rises through the spring cleaning season and again around college move-in in August, when furniture and small appliances move fastest.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Check the dividers are intact full length
  • Run every pocket zip

Getting it ready

  • Check both shoulder straps, the stand mechanism if it has one, and every zip.
  • Empty every pocket, clean the base, and check the legs retract properly.

  • The straps and their attachment points

Put in the description

  • Number and type of pockets, including any insulated one
  • Strap and stand condition, and whether the rain hood is included

Type, dividers and brand: “Ping Hoofer Stand Bag, 14 Way Divider, 4 Pockets”. Divider count is a genuine search term. Say cart bag, stand bag or carry bag — those suit entirely different golfers.

March through August, peaking in spring. Recognised brands sell within days in season; off-season listings wait.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the $162 a buyer pays is the $162 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Where in the US

The United States is a big place and what sells well moves with it. These are the parts of the United States with their own page for golf bags.

Common questions

Where can I sell a golf bag in the US?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.

How many dividers does it have?

Count them and say whether they run the full length. Full-length dividers stop clubs tangling and buyers filter on it.

Does the type of bag matter?

Yes. State whether it is a carry, cart or tour bag, since they suit completely different buyers.

Are the pockets important?

Buyers check every zip. A bag with failed pocket zips is much harder to sell.
