Sell Your Car Parts in India

Used car parts in India typically sell for ₹2,550 to ₹51,500 (about $27 to $540). Car parts sell on the part number, not the description — and a few parts, airbags and pretensioners above all, are pyrotechnic and cannot go in the post at all.

What lifts the price

  • Original manufacturer parts with part numbers
  • Complete assemblies rather than partial

What pulls it down

  • Obsolete parts for vehicles no longer on the road
  • Missing fixings and brackets

Selling car parts in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

India Post, Delhivery and DTDC all offer nationwide coverage, and courier cost varies sharply between metros and smaller towns.

Negotiation is normal and expected rather than a sign of a difficult buyer. Price with a little room in it and say whether the price is firm.

Working out what yours is worth

  • List every vehicle model and year it fits
  • Photograph all mating surfaces and mounting points

Getting it ready

  • Find the part number stamped or labelled on the component and photograph it. That number is the entire listing.
  • Note the donor vehicle: make, model, year, engine and trim, plus mileage for wear items.

Photograph

  • The part number and any manufacturer marking, legible
  • Any damage, corrosion, wear or missing fixing

Put in the description

  • Part number and manufacturer
  • Donor vehicle make, model, year, engine and mileage

Weigh before quoting; parts are dense. Drain any fluid, and never post an airbag or pretensioner — they are classed as dangerous goods. Keep a record of the donor vehicle for anything safety related.

Steady year round, and older or discontinued parts often sell better than new-model ones because there is no alternative source. Common serviceable parts sell within days.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹51,300 a buyer pays is the ₹51,300 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Common questions

Where can I sell car parts in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

Was it working when removed?

Say honestly whether it came off a running vehicle or a damaged one, and whether you tested it. Untested is a perfectly acceptable description; implied working is not.

How should I list car parts?

By part number first, then the vehicles it fits. Buyers search by part number, and a listing without one is much harder to find.

Are used car parts worth selling?

Yes, particularly original manufacturer parts for common vehicles. The market is active because new parts are expensive.
