Sell Your Boots in India

Used boots in India typically sell for ₹2,550 to ₹11,500 (about $27 to $120). Boots are bought on whether they can be resoled, so the useful thing to state is the construction — a welted boot has decades left in it and a cemented sole does not.

What lifts the price

  • Goodyear-welted or stitched construction that can be resoled
  • Original laces, box and any dust bags

What pulls it down

  • Worn heel blocks and thin soles
  • Salt staining from winter wear

Selling boots in India

UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

India Post, Delhivery and DTDC all offer nationwide coverage, and courier cost varies sharply between metros and smaller towns.

Negotiation is normal and expected rather than a sign of a difficult buyer. Price with a little room in it and say whether the price is firm.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Flex the vamp and check for cracking
  • Check the heel block and sole thickness

Getting it ready

  • Clean and condition the leather. Boots respond visibly to a wipe and a coat of polish, and it costs almost nothing.
  • Look at the sole edge: a line of stitching around the welt means the boots are resoleable, which is a major selling point.

Photograph

  • The soles, showing tread, heel wear and whether there is a stitched welt
  • The leather uppers close up, plus any scuff, crack or separation

Put in the description

  • Brand, model and size with the sizing system stated
  • Leather or synthetic, and whether the sole is welted or cemented

Heavier than shoes so postage costs a little more, but still straightforward. Wrap each boot separately and check the parcel weight before quoting the buyer a postage price.

Autumn and winter are strongest, with a clear peak from September to December. Quality welted boots hold value all year; fashion boots follow the season closely.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the ₹11,550 a buyer pays is the ₹11,550 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Common questions

Where can I sell boots in India?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. UPI has largely replaced cash for in-person handovers and is instant and traceable, which suits a private sale well. Cash on delivery is still widely expected for anything posted, and it is worth deciding your position on it before you list.

How worn is the tread?

Photograph the soles flat and honestly. Tread wear is easy to judge from a picture and impossible to argue about afterwards.

Which used boots are worth the most?

Welted boots from makers that support resoling. They can be rebuilt repeatedly, which keeps second-hand demand strong.

What is Goodyear welting?

A construction method that stitches the sole to the upper via a welt, allowing resoling. Look for a stitch line around the sole edge.
