Used manga in the US typically sells for $5 to $34. Manga sells strongly as complete runs, and the gap between a full set and scattered volumes is larger than most sellers expect.

What lifts the price
- Complete runs sold as a set
- Spines with no creasing or sun fading
What pulls it down
- Sun-faded spines from shelf display
- Widely reprinted volumes still in print
Selling manga in the US
Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.
USPS, UPS and FedEx all cover the country. USPS Ground Advantage is normally cheapest for anything under a few pounds in weight; above that the gap narrows quickly.
Distances are the real constraint. State plainly whether you will ship or collection only, because a buyer three states away will otherwise ask.
Working out what yours is worth
- List which volumes you have and identify any gaps
- Search sold listings for complete sets rather than singles
Getting it ready
- Check whether any volume is out of print, since those carry a premium well above the rest.
- Inspect spines for creasing and page edges for yellowing, which is common on older printings.
Photograph
- The covers fanned, showing the count
- A page spread showing print quality and any yellowing
Put in the description
- Whether the run is complete, and whether any volume is out of print
- Condition of spines, covers and page edges
Series, volume range and language: “[Series] Volumes 1-12, English, Complete”. Volume numbers are the search and the language matters because both original-language and translated editions circulate. Say if any volume is out of print — that is where the value concentrates.
Steady year round with a lift before Christmas. Complete runs and out-of-print volumes sell within days; common in-print singles compete with retail and move slowly.
It costs nothing to list
There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the $34 a buyer pays is the $34 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Common questions
Where can I sell manga in the US?
List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.
Which volumes do you have?
List every number. Collectors are completing a run and cannot work with an approximate answer.
Why do spines fade?
Shelf display in daylight. It is very common and buyers check for it, so photograph the spines directly.
Should I sell volumes individually?
Complete runs almost always raise more as a set. Sell singles only to fill gaps in someone else’s collection.
