Getting it ready

  • Check the brakes, run through the gears, and inspect the tyres for cracking as well as tread.

Common questions

Where can I sell a hybrid bike in the US?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. Peer-to-peer payment apps dominate private sales, and buyers will usually offer one before they offer cash. Sales tax does not apply to a private sale between individuals.

Can I fit mudguards and a rack?

Check the frame for eyelets and say. Commuters need both and a frame without mounts is a much less useful bike to them.

What is a seized seatpost?

A post corroded into the frame so it cannot be adjusted. It is common on bikes stored outside and is awkward to fix.

Does rust ruin a bike?

Surface rust on the chain and bolts is cosmetic and cleans up. Rust into the frame tubing is a different matter.
