Sell Your Skateboard in the UK

Used skateboards in the UK typically sell for £20 to £120 (about $27 to $160). Skateboards sell as complete setups or as parts, and the value sits in the trucks and bearings as much as the deck — so name every component.

What lifts the price

  • Complete setups with trucks, wheels and bearings
  • Decks with no delamination at the nose or tail

What pulls it down

  • Razor tail from heavy braking
  • Seized or gritty bearings

Selling a skateboard in the UK

Most private sales settle by bank transfer or cash on collection. Faster Payments clear in seconds, which makes a transfer as safe as cash for the seller — wait for it to land before the item leaves your hands.

Royal Mail, Evri and InPost cover the whole country, and InPost lockers mean neither side has to be in for a delivery. Tracked 48 is the usual default for small parcels.

Distance selling rules bind traders, not private sellers, but an item must still be as described and anything sold as working must actually work.

Two practical things shape a UK sale. Bank holidays and the run-up to Christmas slow collections right down, so build a few extra days in. And postage from mainland Britain to Northern Ireland, the Highlands and the islands carries surcharges that catch sellers out — quote for the buyer’s actual postcode rather than a flat rate.

Working out what yours is worth

  • Check the nose and tail for lifting plies
  • Spin each wheel and listen to the bearings

Getting it ready

  • Identify the deck brand and width, the trucks, the wheel durometer and the bearing rating.
  • Check the griptape and note whether the setup is complete and rideable.

Put in the description

  • Deck brand and width in inches
  • Truck brand and size, wheel size and durometer
  • Bearing brand and ABEC rating

Deck size and components: “Element 8.0in Complete Skateboard, Independent Trucks, Bones Bearings”. Deck width in inches is the primary filter. Naming the trucks and bearings raises the price because those are the expensive parts.

Awkward shape but postable in a long box. Remove or protect the trucks so they do not punch through the packaging.

It costs nothing to list

There is no listing fee, no selling fee and no commission, so the £120 a buyer pays is the £120 you keep. You and the buyer settle up and arrange the handover between yourselves; WishThrift does not hold the money or ship the item.

Where in the UK

The United Kingdom is a big place and what sells well moves with it. These are the parts of the United Kingdom with their own page for skateboards.

Common questions

Where can I sell a skateboard in the UK?

List it free on WishThrift and deal with the buyer direct. There is no selling fee, so the whole amount stays with you. Most private sales settle by bank transfer or cash on collection. Faster Payments clear in seconds, which makes a transfer as safe as cash for the seller — wait for it to land before the item leaves your hands.

What size is the deck?

Read the width in inches off the deck or the maker’s listing. It is how every skater chooses.

Should I sell a skateboard complete or in parts?

Complete boards sell faster to beginners. Premium trucks and decks can raise more separately if you are willing to wait.

Do bearings matter?

They are cheap to replace, so gritty bearings lower the price only slightly. Mention them rather than hiding them.
